Music Teachers Announce 2025 Scholarships
Several 2025 Chautauqua County Music Teachers Association scholarship winners were announced at the 2025 Spring All-County Concert.
Scholarship auditions were hosted recently at Cassadaga Valley Central School. Scholarships are awarded to Chautauqua County music students for summer music camp, private instruction or toward college expenses, should the student choose a career path in music.
Scholarship award winners are:
COLLEGE MUSIC MAJOR SCHOLARSHIP ($1000): Gianna Douglas, soprano, Westfield
HS CAMP/STUDIO CAMP ($400): Alexis Cross, timpani, Falconer; Nella Darrell-Sterbak, violin, Fredonia; Jackson Gollnitz, trombone, Fredonia; Tristan Kelsey, tenor saxophone, Frewsburg; Braeden Signorino, trombone, Frewsburg; Lillian Zappie, clarinet, Chautauqua Lake; and Seth Zielinski, tenor, Westfield.
INTERMEDIATE MUSICIAN ($100): Nora Nopper, bassoon, Cassadaga Valley and Sarah Sigler, trumpet, Southwestern.
YOUNG MUSICIAN ($100): Finley Chitester, violin, Frewsburg; Natalia Sebzda, flute, Fredonia; and Melani Witherspoon, soprano, Southwestern.
In addition to the Spring All-County Festival and providing music study scholarships, the CCMTA also sponsors a Winter All-County Music Festival each February featuring the Elementary Band, Women’s Chorus, Jazz Chorus, Percussion or Brass Ensemble, and the Jazz Ensemble. CCMTA runs a solo festival in February, where students prepare and play for a New York State-certified music adjudicator, who in turn provides the student with valuable comments and tips on how to improve his or her musicianship.
