Mayville Senior Citizens Hold Meeting

MAYVILLE – Birthday wishes were extended to Jerry Johnson and Karen Keulh Heston during the Mayville Senior Citizens meeting at the VFW in Mayville.

Devotional Chair Dianne Goodrich told three stories and then performed the invocation, followed by leading the group in the Lord’s Prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.

Robin Carr, president, called the meeting to order with 40 members present. The secretary’s report was read by Darlene Barney. Tom Dejoe moved to accept the report, seconded by Jerry Johnson; carried. The treasurer’s report was given by Kathie Sukalac,. Bonnie J. Johnson moved to accept the treasurer’s report.

Laurie Magnuson reported that the Trivia Contest was successful. Dennis Webster did a great job as emcee. Three teams from the Mayville group participated: The Mayville Misses (Dianne Goodrich, Janet Loomis, Sandi Wagner), Twisted Sisters (Darlene Harper, Roberta Rosage, Rita Jacobson), and Helping Hands (Jeanne Sampson, Kathy Johnston, Laurie Magnuson). The Twisted Sisters and the Mayville Misses received prizes. Janet Loomis contributed a basket for the raffle.

Linda Anderson, goodwill chair, sent out two birthday cards and no sympathy cards this month.

The kitchen committee, Joyce Ayers, Bonnie J. Johnson, Dolly Gilbert, Becky Dalziel, and Louise Richer, was thanked.

Jerry Johnson is interested in starting a Tai Chi group for the organization. A sign-up sheet will be available at the next meeting. Additionally, it was announced that the Bemus Point Stow Ferry is opening for the season.

Door prizes were won by Janet Loomis, Lois Maloy, Priscilla Farver, Dolly Gilbert and Bonnie J. Johnson. The lottery was won by Bonnie J. Johnson.

Matthew Damcott concluded the meeting, sharing insights from his 35 years as an Army and Air Force reservist and 21 years as a correctional officer at Lakeview Shock Correctional Facility.
