Firefighters Put Out Regent Street Fire

No one was injured in a structure fire early Friday morning on Regent Street.

Jamestown firefighters responded to the scene at 12:36 a.m. Friday and arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the building and flames venting out the rear of the second floor of the home. Firefighters were told everyone was out of the home when firefighters arrived. Firefighters forced entry into the home to conduct a primary search, with firefighters finding heavy fire on the second floor, attacking the fire with a hand line. Engine 3 made a hydrant for Engine 5, with Engine 4 firefighters acting as the fast team.

The fire was under control within 15 minutes with firefighters from Engine 4 and Ladder 1 conducting overhaul until the fire was out. No one was found inside the home.

Firefighters from Engine 2 and a fire investigator provided fire watch as well as to begin looking for a cause. An off-shift complement of 6 firefighters and a fire investigator were called to the scene.

In addition to firefighters, Jamestown police officers, ALSTAR Ambulance, the American Red Cross, National Fuel, the mayor’s office and the Board of Public Utilities responded to the scene.
