Mayville Senior Citizens Hold Meeting

MAYVILLE – The Mayville Senior Citizens met recently at the VFW in Mayville.

Dianne Goodrich shared three short stories and led the Lord’s Prayer and Pledge of Allegiance. Robin Carr, president, then called the meeting to order. The secretary’s report was read by Darlene Barney. Correspondence from Mary Carlson was read. Kathie Sukalac presented the treasurer’s report.

Linda Anderson, Goodwill Chair, sent out one get well card and no birthday cards.

Tour Director Robin Carr stated that at least 10 additional participants are required for the Finger Lakes region tour before the bus can make a stop in Dunkirk. Plans are being made for a November trip to the Corning Museum of Glass for $140.

The Kitchen Committee, Joyce Ayers and Bonnie Johnson, was thanked. Dolly Gilbert was absent. Again, the president asked for more volunteers.

At a recent board meeting, the club’s by-laws were amended to include kitchen committee workers, the second vice president, the assistant treasurer, and the assistant secretary as eligible for one free day trip per year. Previously, kitchen committee workers received a $20 discount on the day trip. It was noted that the assistant treasurer and assistant secretary have taken on more duties and should be recognized.

Door prizes were won by David Thorp, Dianne Goodrich, Sharon Frudd, Nancy Peters and Fred Himes. The lottery was won by Duane Frudd.

The meeting adjourned, and members played bingo for cash prizes with Fred Himes calling the numbers.

Starting at $3.50/week.
