Kenneth Macdonald
Kenneth Macdonald, a Lakewood resident, is a candidate for a three-year term on the Southwestern Central School District Board of Education.
Voters can cast their ballots during the district’s annual budget vote and election on May 20, 2025.
Macdonald has resided in the district for five years with his spouse, Polly Hampton, a Southwestern High School graduate, and their two children who attend Southwestern Elementary School.
As a communications consultant, Macdonald brings extensive experience in strategic communications across corporate, government, and nonprofit sectors. He said he wants to leverage these skills if elected to the board.
“As a parent, I’ve seen firsthand how happy my children are to attend Southwestern,” Macdonald said. “I am grateful for the quality of education they receive thanks to the hard work of our talented teachers and devoted administration. I seek this position on the board to give back and tackle some of the hard work I know it takes to make this success seem so effortless.”
McDonald said if elected he wants to maintain Southwestern’s reputation in academics, athletics and community involvement. If elected, he aims to advocate for greater emphasis on social-emotional learning, positive school spirit, and a school culture that protects and uplifts all students.
For the past three years, he has served as a youth recreational soccer coach with the Southwestern Soccer League. He also provides professional media production services to YWCA Jamestown and communications support to the Robert H. Jackson Center.
