Brooks Locomotive Company/American Locomotive Company (ALCO) have prominent displays at the museum and a prototypical display at the fairgrounds. The railroad display is located near the market and features the Brooks/ALCO Boston & Maine Locomotive 444, Delaware & Hudson boxcar and New York Central caboose.
Other items include signs and signals, maintenance of way equipment, Erie Railway phone booth and a Nickel Plate Road section shanty. The display will be open to the public during the market from noon to 3 p.m. The silk industry was a staple in years gone by. The Van Raalte Co. produced premium silk lingerie, ladies slips and gloves, all of which are highly collectible in today’s antique market. During the war, they concentrated their silk efforts into producing parachutes for the cause. You may learn more when visiting the museum.
The museum is operated by volunteers and the current volunteer hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 to 11 a.m. Call ahead at 716-366-3797. For information regarding the Antiques & Toys Market, call 814-779-5553 or 716-969-2211.
