Post 556 Auxiliary Meets
FREWSBURG – The Samuel L. Derby Auxiliary Unit 556 of the American Legion in Frewsburg met recently.
President Verna Hoover convened the meeting. The minutes from September 17 were approved.
Treasurer Debby Walsh reviewed revenue and expenses for the month of September. The treasurer’s report was accepted and will be referred to the audit committee. As Chair of Children and Youth, Emma McCreary will choose a needy family for the Auxiliary to purchase Christmas gifts.
Jen Jackson reported that membership is currently at 110, with a goal of 250.
Verna Hoover will order 1,000 fabric poppies for Poppy Days in 2025.
Communications included a thank you note from the local Quilts of Valor group for the $100 donation. Sue Mattocks and Karen Cummings will be giving out candy at the legion on Halloween. Candy donations are still appreciated.
The Barbershop Quartet and Dinner is set for Nov. 9. The early bird breakfast is set for Nov. 10. The basket giveaway for Christmas will include a variety of scratch-off tickets.
Members were reminded to send in their county reports by November 1. The Samuel L. Derby Auxiliary Unit 556 meets the third Tuesday of every month. All members are encouraged to attend. The next meeting will be held on Nov. 19 at 6:30 p.m.
