Mayville Senior Citizens Meet At The VFW
MAYVILLE – Nearly 50 members of the Mayville Senior Citizens met recently for a chicken barbecue luncheon at their meeting at the VFW in Mayville.
Jim Thomas prepared the chicken. Goodwill Chairperson Linda Anderson prepared a birthday cake and the group sang Happy Birthday to the eight members with birthdays: Gerald White; James Kurtz; Kris Savage; Gabino Cruzado; Chip Winchell; Linda Taylor; Dianne Goodrich and Beverly White.
Devotional Chairperson, Dianne Goodrich, told four short stories after which she led the group in the Lord’s Prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance.
The secretary’s report and treasurer’s report were accepted as given. Robin Carr reported that Dr. Jenne Weinberger will discuss her trip to Antarctica at 10 a.m. Oct. 10 at the Stow Senior Citizens Center.
Linda Anderson reported she sent out 8 birthday cards. She heard from Mary Carlson who thanked the members for her birthday cards. She is recovering from her hip surgery.
Becky Dalziel, tour director, reported our next trip that will include the Festival of Lights in Hamburg will be Dec. 3 for $110. She will bring more information at the next meeting.
New member Kate Sommer was welcomed. Guest Aiden Theim was also welcomed.
Door prizes were won by Kathie Sukalac, Martha Anderson, and Chip Winchell. The lottery was won by Louise Richir.
Chair yoga will be held in the old Mayville Central School gym Thursdays at 11 a.m. There also is adult volleyball on Tuesdays at 7 p.m.
