Portland Water Conservation, Boil Order Lifted
PORTLAND — A conserve water advisory and a boil water order for consumers located on several roads in the town has been lifted.
The issues stemmed from a leak on Dahlberg Road, which was identified and repaired as of Wednesday of last week. Nearly all of the 1,400 approximate customers in Brocton and Portland were impacted as the Town began shutting off water service throughout the region to locate the leak.
Last week, the Town discovered the leak on Dahlberg Road in an area of heavy brush. The site was excavated and a “sizable hole” at the bottom of the pipe was repaired with a clamp.
Although the leak was on Dahlberg Road, both Ellicott Road and Webster Road were also impacted because of elevation. As the water tank lowered, the higher elevation roads were the first to lose pressure.
Water customers in the village of Brocton and town of Portland were put on a mandatory water conservation order last Monday. Customers in the areas outside of Dahlberg Road, Ellicott Road, and Webster Road did not face any restrictions or precautions.
