Norden Women’s Club Hosts Member-Guest Dinner

Pictured above is Matt Moore (center), with Stacey Ludwig, girlfriend, on his right; and Maria Malmstrom, Vice President of Norden Women’s Club, on his left.

The Norden Women’s Club met at the Chautauqua Harbor Hotel recently for a member-guest dinner.

Hostesses were Shirley Swenson and Cynthia Gleason. Brenda Fitzgerald welcomed everyone. She introduced Shirley Swenson who gave the invocation. A delicious dinner was then served.

Maria Malmstrom, vice president, introduced the speaker, Matt Moore. Moore has been with TitanX for 36 years and is currently its global vice president of research and development. During that time, he and his wife lived and worked in south Sweden for 15 years. He grew up locally in Russell and attended Gannon University.

It was difficult at first in Sweden, not knowing the language. Even just grocery shopping was a challenge, Moore said. Being an American in Sweden gives the Moores a different perspective of not only their country, but the family as well. While Sweden universities do not charge tuition and their medicine is socialized, every citizen is expected to do their best to create value. Each citizen has a vested interest in the success of Sweden. Even paying taxes was a happy event, as they all felt they were doing their part, Moore siad.

Swedes live a balanced life, or logum, meaning just the right amount,” Moore said, adding Swedes love to travel to sample the various cultures, as international travel is easy in Europe.

The next Norden Club lunch meeting will be held Oct. 12 at the Robert H. Jackson Center.

Starting at $2.99/week.
