Ashville UMC Raises Money For Projects
Laurie Russell, Ashville United Methodist Church outreach coordinator, volunteered as a Shoebox helper in Baltimore, Md., as part of the Samaritan Purse organization. Working with all the Christians there, she realized there was so much need that she wanted to bring the program back to Ashville. Pastor John Bowen and church members raised $1,000 that will be given to a variety of projects, including providing a hot meal for a child, rescuing children in crisis, helping a poor farming family, Baby Chicks, which supports chicken and poultry projects, bring clean water to a community, helping a mission hospital through the World Medical Mission, Adopt a Shoebox, blankets and bedding and others. Members of the church are pictured.
