Jamestown Kiwanis Helps Backpack Project
Jamestown Kiwanis members helped the Waterfront Foundation prepare backpacks for area students from elementary school through high school.
The project took place at the Chautauqua Center in Jamestown. Each backpack wound up filled with essential school supplies.
The Jamestown Kiwanis Club was founded in 1920. In 1995, for its 75th anniversary, the club adopted the mission statement: “The Jamestown Kiwanis Club is an organization of community leaders whose primary purpose is service to youth.”
The Jamestown Kiwanis Club sponsors the Jamestown High School Key Club. Key Club members are dedicated to service to the school and to the community.
The club also puts on a fun fair each year at the Boys and Girls Club.
Each Christmas, the Jamestown Kiwanis Club puts on a pancake breakfast at the Salvation Army for children and their families, complete with a Christmas gift for each child and a visit from Santa.
The club normally meets for a 7:30 a.m. breakfast on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month at the Doubletree Hotel. Kiwanis offers corporate memberships as well as individual memberships.
