Cassadaga To Celebrate Fire Department’s 100 Year Anniversary

CASSADAGA – The Cassadaga Fire Department is a century old and this weekend the community will celebrate its anniversary.

The fire department is joining forces with the village and the Citizens for a Better Cassadaga during the community’s annual Labor Day Festival.

On Friday at the Cassadaga American Legion Post Zen City will be performing from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

On Saturday at 8 a.m. is the annual CassadagaMan – a half IronMan race in the Cassadaga area. It has a 1.2 mile swim around Cassadaga Lake (Lower Lake), a 28 mile bike loop that climbs along the Chautauqua Ridge, and a 6 mile or 13.1 mile run. For more information Search CassadagaMan on Facebook.

At 9 a.m. on Saturday is the 18-hole two-man scramble Camp Gross Golf Tournament at the Cassadaga Country Club.

The opening ceremonies for the fire department’s 100-year anniversary celebration takes place at the fire hall, which is on Mill Street in the village, at 1 p.m. The Cassadaga Community Choir will be performing.

A Street Dance on Mill Street begins at 2 p.m. with Honkey Tonk Heroes performing from 2-5 pm., followed by Party McFly performing from 6-9 p.m. There will also be a beer tent, Merritt Winery Slush Bus and food trucks available.

On Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. there will be a craft vendor/Farmers Market in Ames Commons at the corner of Route 60 and Maple Avenue.

At 4 p.m. will be the annual grand parade.

At 5 p.m. will be the annual Ducky Derby at the bridge on Maple Avenue.

From 6-8 p.m. Furious George will be performing on the Cassadaga Floating Stage. This is an hour later than the usual floating stage performances.

To close out the celebration there will be fireworks at Fessenden Ball Fields, on Maple Avenue, at 9 p.m.
