Thule Lodge Begins Summer Season with Swedish Dinner
FALCONER – Thule Lodge, the Swedish organization in the Jamestown area, held a special dinner at the Falcon’s Nest in Falconer, known as “Midsommar.”
This is the time of the year when summer begins, and in Sweden, the daylight time is longer, with daylight hours being nearly 24 hours a day. The special dinner was catered by the 3C’s and enjoyed by members and guests. Following the meal, the Thule Lodge Folk Dance Team, dressed in Swedish outfits, performed a number of Swedish dances. Music was provided by the violinists Kathleen Petersen and Cheryl Ritch, and accordionist Donald Sandy. Sandy talked about the upcoming annual Scandinavian Festival to be held in Jamestown at the Northwest Area on Saturday and Sunday. Everyone is welcome.
Thule Lodge is in its 114th year in the Jamestown area, and welcomes new members.
After the dance team performance, Thule Lodge Chairman Susan Washington Sipos held a brief business meeting. Lodge Chaplain Stephanie Buccola gave the opening and closing messages. Lodge secretary John Sipos read the roll call of officers, and then the minutes of the previous meeting. Treasurer Loretta Smith gave the financial report of the lodge. Special thanks to Loretta and Gene Smith for sending out invitations to the dinner. Bernice Veights was the recipient of the lodge award.
