St. Luke’s To Host Guided Tours Aug. 3

St. Luke’s Episcopal Church will host two guided tours on Saturday, Aug. 3, at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. during the Lucille Ball Comedy Festival. The tours are free to the public and last one hour.

For the first time since the recent renovations to its iconic bell tower, St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 410 N. Main St., Jamestown, will host two guided tours on Saturday, Aug. 3, at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., during the Lucille Ball Comedy Festival.

The event is free to the public. Each tour will last one hour.

“A beloved iconic landmark for more than 130 years, we are pleased to offer guided tours of this historic downtown Jamestown centerpiece,” said Paul Johnson, parish Verger and Committee chair for the event. “Our tour offers a unique opportunity to step inside and really engage in the history of this local landmark and hear special organ music during this tour. We encourage the public to stop by and see for themselves the amazing architecture and learn more about one of the oldest congregations in the city.”

Notable parishioners of St. Luke’s include, among others, James Prendergast (Jamestown’s founder), Reuben E. Fenton (congressman, New York governor, and U.S. Senator), Charles E. Goodell (congressman and U.S. Senator), Robert H. Jackson (U.S. Attorney General, chief U.S. prosecutor at the Nuremberg war crimes trials, and associate justice of the U.S Supreme Court), and Stan Lundine (Jamestown mayor, congressman, and New York Lieutenant Governor).

The church is led by The Rev. Luke Fodor, rector. For questions or more information, contact the church office at 716-483-6405 or visit the church website at stlukesjamestown.org.
