At the Westfield-Mayville Rotary Club’s first July meeting, Karin Cockram presented on her volunteer work in Kenya. Having lived in Uganda as a child while her father taught school and then having to flee to Kenya during a revolution, Cockram said she is very comfortable working with children, their mothers and others who are in need whether in a school setting, hospital or within the poorer reaches of isolated villages. The club learned of the need for good water supplies, good nutrition, school sponsorships and greenhouse facilities. Rotary International has initiatives both at home and internationally. Cockram will be returning to continue her work in August.
