Christ First UMC To Host Vacation Bible School August 5-9
At Christ First United Methodist Church in Jamestown, children who attend vacation Bible school will be immersed in creative lessons all tied together through their common theme: God’s Garden.
The curriculum is developed by the church’s staff, which includes local educator Kenzie Mason.
Kenzie Mason is an early childhood special education teacher at Southwestern Elementary School. She has also taught in second and third grade elementary classrooms and has served as Christ First’s children’s program director since 2018.
“Our VBS lessons are very interactive, and are designed to engage children in multiple ways. Our goal is for the lessons to be memorable and fun for students across a wide age range,” Mason said.
The program is called “Planting Seeds of Faith” and focuses on a different idea each day. Throughout the week, children will participate in planting and caring for seeds, reading and discussing stories, learning music, creating art, playing games, and watching videos. All of these activities are related to stories from the Bible that center around a garden theme. Some of the ideas and stories that children will learn include; “Fruits of the Spirit,” “The Farmer and the Seed,” “The Vine and the Branches,” and more.
Vacation Bible school takes place at Christ First United Methodist Church from Aug. 5-9 from 9 a.m. to noon. Children ages 5-12 are invited to attend, and younger siblings may register on a case-by-case basis.
To register, call the church office at 716-664-5803, or email ksandbergmtny@gmail.com by Friday, Aug. 2.
