Thule Lodge Begins 117th Year In Jamestown Area

FALCONER – Thule Lodge 127 held its March luncheon.

In January and February, the officers met to plan a calendar of events for the entire year. The first event was the March luncheon recently held at the 3-C’s Falcon’s Nest in Falconer. Lodge treasurer Loretta Smith, with the help of her husband Gene, organized the luncheon and sent out invitations to the members. Served for the meal were pea soup, butter bits sandwiches and rice pudding.

The next event will be a late afternoon meal in April known as the “egg-sexa,” meaning foods made with eggs. Invitations will be sent out. New members to Thule Lodge are welcome.

This year, Susan Washington Sipos will serve as the lodge chairman, Stephanie Buccola as the vice chairman and lodge chaplain, Lynne Meyers as the membership chairman, Mrs. Smith as the lodge treasurer, and John Sipos as the secretary and the lodge historian. Tim Miller is the immediate past chairman. Janice Kelley-VanOrd will serve as the inner guard, and Donna Johnson will serve as the mistress of ceremony. Katie Peterson will serve as the cultural leader. Trustee-auditors are Karen Johnson, Wayne Nelson, Julie Pickett, Scott Axelson and Norman Carlson.

Lodge chairman Sipos typed up the calendar of the lodge events, and had copies printed for all, which are available at all lodge events.

The Thule Lodge is the Swedish organization formed 117 years ago to help the Swedish immigrants with their housing, employment and schooling. The organization has served the people well, and many of the Swedish people found employment in the many furniture factories which were once in the Jamestown area. Today, Thule Lodge exists to preserve Swedish heritage through events and activities. Sweden has a population of 10.4 million people.
