LAKEWOOD – The Women’s Club of Lakewood recently took donations of healthy snacks, juices and clothing to the Southwestern Elementary School’s health office.

The donations were taken at the February and March General Meetings.

February’s program featured a presentation from conservationist Carol Markham from the Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy. She discussed the importance of protecting the Chautauqua Lake watershed, and highlighted steps that can be taken to keep the lake healthy and pollinators happy. She shared stories from people and communities working to create a more sustainable and resilient Chautauqua County.

March’s program was all about relaxation, stress reduction, and energy presented by Jessica Bryant, a Reiki master. She included techniques in these areas that promote healing. Her energy level was contagious as she shared the idea of Reiki being based on unseen “life force energy” that flows through people.

The club’s April 23 meeting is about the Literacy Volunteers of Chautauqua County and will be held at 7 p.m. at the Lakewood Memorial Library. Mariella Collazo from the program will discuss the literacy programs offered in the county and the growing need for volunteers. Several Lakewood Women’s Club members are involved in the program, and the local program was recently featured on the reality show, “Small Business Revolution.” It will be aired to the group during this presentation.

Lakewood Village residents with a 14750 zip code are eligible to join The Women’s Club of Lakewood. If interested in joining, feel free to attend the April 23 meeting.

For more information, contact membership chair, Becky Danielson at 717-763-5711 or message the group through the public Facebook Page: Lakewood Women’s Club.
