Hazeltine Library To Begin Author Showcases April 29

BUSTI – The Hazeltine Public Library will resume its author showcase on April 29.

Each Monday night a local author will present a short talk about their work, the processes they use in writing and then be available to answer questions.

The series begins at 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 29, in the Community Building at the rear of the Hazeltine Public Library. These are free events and reservations are not required but appreciated.

Sally Ferguson, who specializes in journaling, will start the series on April 29. During the evening she will help those attending collect thoughts, jumpstart their writing, and share tips and tools for journaling and creating stories.

Painter, gardener, photographer and author Trenton Lutes will be at the library on May 6. He is working on book 3 of “The Terra-Healers”

Writing coach Kathy Carlton Willis presents her lecture on May 13. Her focus is coaching/mentoring women and helping them experience ‘aha moments.’ She often speaks at women’s events and to civic groups.

Southwestern Central School librarian Mary Zdrojewski will be at the library on May 20. . Zdrojewski has written a young adult fantasy book as well as a picture book “Wiser the Owl” that is used by school librarians across the state to help students learn about the research process.

Bill Burk talks about his writings on June 3. His self – published book “Run! From Civil War to the NFL ; the Jehuu Caulcrick Story” is the true narrative history of a boy who escaped the Liberian civil war.

Poet Alicia Willsie will be the June 10 speaker. Her writing has spanned 30 years and she has several published works of poetry.

Local genealogist and historian Adrienne Ploss will continue the story of her family farm on June 17.

Hunting enthusiast Steve Sorensen concludes the spring series on June 24. His passion for the outdoors and the rural aspects of life have resulted in 30 awards, several publications about hunting and a series of magazine articles.

Each author will have books available for sale and signing and they will take questions after their presentations. The series is free and open to the general public. Reservations are appreciated for each individual lecture.

The Hazeltine Public Library is located at 891 Busti Sugar Grove Road. Off-street parking is available and the Community Building is accessible. Those interested ni learning more or making reservations are invited to contact the library at 716-487-1281.
