BPU Yard Waste Site To Open Saturdays Starting April 13

The Jamestown Board of Public Utilities Yard Waste Site for residential Solid Waste customers opens Saturday, April 13, for the 2024 season.

Hours of the yard waste site are 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays, April 13, through November 9; and 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays, effective May 8, through September 25. The site will be closed on three summer Saturday holiday weekends, including June 1, July 6 and September 7. The Yard Waste Site, located at 1001 Monroe St., at the dead end of Eighth Street, is restricted to use by BPU Solid Waste residential customers whose garbage/recycling rate pays for site operations. Contractors are not permitted to use the site.

BPU Solid Waste customers who enter the site must display a blue-colored 2023-24 BPU Yard Waste Site sticker on the rear driver-side window of the vehicle. The window stickers are free-of-charge to BPU Solid Waste residential customers and only one sticker is provided for each customer account. Use of the window stickers allows BPU employees who staff the site to identify BPU Solid Waste residential customers and assures that non-BPU Solid Waste customers do not use the site. Valid stickers must be affixed to the inside of the driver’s side rear window for entrance to the site. For trucks with no rear side windows, stickers may be placed on the lower left corner of the back window.

The window stickers are available at the BPU Customer Service Office, 92 Steele St., open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Wednesdays and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays. At the site, customers may discard leaves, grass clippings, mulch, plants/shrubs/bushes, as well as tree parts and brush up to eight inches in diameter. Metals, sod, concrete, rocks, dirt, lumber/wood, tires, drywall and other construction materials are not accepted.

For more information, BPU customers may call the Garbage Hotline at 716-661-1651.

Starting at $3.50/week.
