Lakewood Women’s Club Assists Community

LAKEWOOD — The Women’s Club of Lakewood has been busy helping, not only in Lakewood, but in area communities as well.

Community Service chairs Pamela Johnson and Patty Idzik help lead the group’s November food drive to benefit the Ashville Food Pantry. Several members are regular volunteers at the pantry.

Handwritten Christmas and holiday greeting cards were delivered to Tanglewood Manor and Memory Garden, Brookdale, and Orchard Grove Assisted Living. Becky Danielson made the delivery.

Donations of hats, mittens, gloves and scarves were brought to Hazeltine Library for families in need over the winter season. A White Elephant auction brought in funds to be used toward the Southwestern Central School Scholarship Fund.

Scholarships are awarded yearly to Southwestern graduating seniors going on to school or training toward their career after graduating from high school.

The group recently welcomed new members Pat Borowski, Lisa Burns, Christy Sherry, Angel Clark, Sydney Deppas, Amy Hyde, Kelly Stineman, Heather Thauer, Metivia Whitmore, Chatherine Baglia, Kathleen Boldt and Joy Reiss.

The next meeting of the Women’s Club of Lakewood is at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, at Lakewood Memorial Library. Discussion will include steps to take in protecting the Chautauqua Lake watershed, as well as highlighting steps residents can take to keep the lake healthy and pollinators happy.

Village residents with a 14750 zip code are eligible to join the Women’s Club of Lakewood.

For more information, contact Becky Danielson 716-763-5711 or message the group through the public Facebook page: Lakewood Women’s Club.
