GERRY -- The Rodeo City Senior Citizens met for a luncheon and a program featuring singer Pat Cook at the Gerry Methodist Church.

Vice President Ed Yager welcomed all and called the meeting to order. A luncheon was held with all those attending bringing a dish of food to add to the meal.

Pastor Don Moore of the Ellington Baptist Church gave the blessing prior to the meal. Jan Miller was in charge of setting the serving table, with the help of secretary Peg Harrison.

John Sipos, historian for Cassadaga and Stockton, gave a historical report on the history of the Pledge of Allegiance, first said by nearly 12 million school children on Oct. 12, 1892, at 2 p.m.

Harrison read the minutes of the previous meeting and treasurer Gayle McKinney gave the financial report of the group. A representative from the Chautauqua County Office for the Aging talked briefly about the services available for senior citizens.

Following the meal, singer Pat Cook from Mayville sang a medley of folk songs as a tribute to women. George Cook provided the music for each song and also did some dancing during the program.
