Craft A Fresh Holiday Decoration At Audubon On December 2
Make a holiday decoration with natural greens at Audubon Community Nature Center on Saturday, Dec. 2.
Celebrate the winter season by making a holiday decoration with natural greens, using nature in holiday decor or gift-giving.
Audubon Community Nature Center is offering two workshops on Decorating with Greens to make a small wreath, table decoration, or swag with beautiful natural greens.
Workshop times are 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2.
Directions, cut greens and a few other tools and decorative materials will be on hand to make one-of-a-kind pieces suited to one’s particular taste. Those attending are encouraged to bring additional decorations or supplies such as small wreath frames, ribbon, wire, pruners and holiday decorations to aid in making their creation.
Twelve-inch wire wreath frames are available for an additional $3 at the nature center.
All ages are welcome, though small children will need assistance.
The program fee is $16 for adults, $12 for Nature Center members and children 3-15, and free for those two and under.
Paid reservations are required by Friday, Dec. 1 by calling 716-569-2345 during business hours or going to AudubonCNC.org and clicking through “Programs and Events.” Walk-ins may be accepted if there is room. Call for availability after the deadline.
Audubon Community Nature Center is located at 1600 Riverside Road, one-quarter mile east of Route 62 between Jamestown and Warren. Visit the nearly 600-acre nature preserve, check in on the live birds of prey, and hike the more than five miles of trails dawn until dusk daily for free.
The three-story Nature Center building houses interactive displays, a collection of live animals including the Hellbender exhibit, and the Blue Heron Gift Shop. Visitors are welcome Mondays through Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Sundays, 1 to 4:30 p.m. Nature Center members and SNAP/EBT cardholders have free building admission daily.
