Big Band Christmas Set For Dec. 8

A Big Band Christmas will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, at First Covenant Church, 520 Spring St., Jamestown.

In the spirit of the Living Christmas Tree presentations held over the years at First Covenant Church, the event will celebrate the music and story of the Christmas season both sacred and secular.

The concert will be performed by vocalists Bill Ward, Jennie Caruso, George Coulter and Margie Coulter; a full choir; and the Chautauqua Big Band Swing Orchestra, under the direction of John Cross.

Multi-media graphic artist Sara Johnson will visually interpret each selection in the performance.

First Covenant Pastor Julie Challingsworth will narrate the program.

From “O Holy Night” to “Rudolph, The Red Nosed Reindeer,” the concert will delight all family members. The swing orchestra will present toe-tapping big band music featuring the solo artistry of trumpeters Jay Hagen, Michelle Battaglia and Brandon Caruso; Kyle Jordan on baritone saxophone; Allen Zurcher on tenor saxophone; as well as Tim Przybelinski and Doug Shutte on trombone; Jim Madden on piano; and Craig Ridgway on drum set.

There are no tickets to purchase or admission charge, but there will be a free will offering.
