On Sunday from 2-4 p.m., all interested young people are invited to meet at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church to explore the pipe organ in special program put on by the Chautauqua Chapter of the American Guild of Organist called “Pedals, Pipes and Pizza.”

This fun and highly interactive event is designed to give young people the opportunity to explore the pipe organ, sometimes called the King of the instruments.

The organ is not just one instrument, but a whole orchestra.

Participants will have an opportunity to learn how the organ works by looking at the blower, peeking into the pipe chamber and taking a turn at the console to play the keys and pedals. Attendees of all ages are welcome to learn how the organ works and be able to try it themselves at Sunday’s free Pedals, Pipes, & Pizza, which will conclude with a Pizza and Ice Cream reception.

This is not only an opportunity to learn in a fun, information environment but also to perhaps find your vocation.

Dean of the local AGO and organist at Holy Apostles parish, Donna Gatz says, “Facing the dire shortage of organists nationwide, the local AGO Chapter hopes to make a significant impact in the training of future organists by providing this opportunity for musicians, young and older, to have a friendly introduction to the pipe organ.”

To confirm your participation, call the parish office at St. Luke’s at 716-483-6405.

Starting at $3.50/week.
