Jason Higbee announced he is running for mayor of Falconer.
Higbee has lived in the village of Falconer all his life. He was raised with his four siblings and attended Falconer Central, graduating in 1993.
He attended West Virginia University on a full scholarship for music. Higbee returned to the area and chose to pursue a career in automotive management where he has been an owner/operator of automobile dealerships in the area. He is currently managing dealership operations with the Shults Auto Group in Jamestown.
“My 30-year career success in management allows me the ability and knowledge to have had opportunity to work with a wide demographic of individuals and bring them together to achieve success! These are key qualities our Village requires,” Higbee said.
Higbee has raised his two sons, Justin and Jordan, in the village and made significant investment and impact in the area both with his businesses and his home.
As a founding member of the Falconer Neighborhood Watch program, Higbee and a handful of concerned citizens had grassroots meetings at his home to discuss the issues and concerns of village residents and the demand for change in the community.
Higbee plans to take a more proactive approach as mayor.
“The village needs a leader that will listen to its residents, address their concerns and act toward an immediate resolution,” he said.
Higbee had his first interest in local politics while attending Falconer High School. He was a legislative intern with the Chautauqua County Legislature under Chairman Lance Spicer.
“It was a great experience to see how effective local government was run,” he said. “Lance worked both sides of the legislature and was able to get a lot done. I’ve used similar principles in my business management, whenever there is a problem, it’s usually people or a process, and if you can manage both, the job gets done.”
