Gustafson Seeks Re-Election To Legislature In District 10

Chautauqua County Legislator Jamie Gustafson, has announced her campaign to remain at the District 10 legislative representative.

She has been in the legislature since July 2022.

“I carry a strong sense of hometown pride, integrity, honesty, and dedication. I currently serve on the Human Services and Planning and Economic Development committees as a representative of the legislature.

Gustafson noted she is a a lifelong resident of Chautauqua County and has lived, worked, worshipped, volunteered and with her husband has educated their children in District 10 for the last 31 years.

“I currently live in the town of Busti with my husband Paul and our 23-year-old daughter Molly. Our oldest daughter, Madalyn, is now married and resides with her husband Damon Lewis. My husband served the Lakewood-Busti community for 23 years as a law enforcement officer, retiring in 2013 as the sergeant investigator. Both of our daughters graduated from Southwestern High School. Molly completed the first two years of her higher education at Jamestown Community College and will complete her master’s degree in early childhood education from Mercyhurst University in December. Molly is currently a first-grade teacher at Paul B Temple Elementary School in Kennedy N.Y. We are highly committed to this community and as your legislator I will continue to build on this strong sense of hometown pride,” she said.

Gustafson earned her associate degree at JCC, her bachelor’s in business management from Houghton College and her master’s in strategic leadership from St. Bonaventure.

“I am excited to see that JCC is now partnering with SUNY Fredonia to offer three bachelor’s degrees allowing students to earn their bachelor’s degrees while staying local. I believe that an expansion of this program will be an asset and help strengthen our community,” she said.

Gustafson has worked locally for M&T Bank for 33 years. She spent the last 10 years as a senior business banking relationship manager. Earlier in her banking career she worked with branch customers.

“Working for 33 years with those in our district has provided me an unmatched awareness of what our residents experience living in District 10 and Chautauqua County,” she said.

Gustafson is president of The Creche Inc, member of Women’s Club of Lakewood, co-chair of the Busti Republican Committee and a 12-year member of the Busti Board of Assessment Review.

“Serving these organizations has provided me with knowledge on how things have evolved and changed over the past 31 years — a perspective that is unique to someone who has been fully immersed in our community for their entire life,” she said.
