CLCS Celebrates Homecoming With Events
MAYVILLE — Chautauqua Lake’s Homecoming Week was a success this year, leaving lasting memories and a strong sense of unity within the school community. Homecoming at Chautauqua Lake is rich in traditions that include school-wide themed days, a pep rally, a dance (grades 9-12) and a wonderful parade through the village of Mayville.
Spirit Week Days include all grade levels from pre-k to grades 12 and this year included a range from Jersey Day to Barbie Day. Friday the secondary school ended the day with a pep assembly celebration in class colors, while the elementary students, who are grouped using a house system of mixed grades, had spent time getting to know the people in their house and more about their house name.
The theme for this year’s parade was” Decades” and represented things from the ’50s to the future!
Superintendent Joshua Liddell says that “Over the years we have worked hard to not just make it a high school celebration but one in which our elementary students, families and community can be part of. Throughout this past week, we have designated homecoming games for all our Varsity teams and our students have worked hard to build elaborate floats with the help of their families, friends and our teachers. In our parade, we are blessed to have representation from seven different local fire departments including Brocton, Westfield and Ripley. Chautauqua Lake’s homecoming festivities have a true Americana feel that brings with it a wonderful sense of pride and togetherness for our school, community and students.”
