Students of the Month at Chautauqua Lake Central School, honored for June achievements, are Erma Wolcott, Eliot Reyda, Jada Cole, Lillian Schenk, Riley Lindstrom and Eliana Ludwig.
Senior Erma Wolcott is the daughter of Greg and Katherine Wolcott of Mayville. She enjoyed Psychology and gym the most this year. She has played on the school’s soccer and basketball teams since seventh grade, earning the MVP of the Salamanca Basketball tournament this year. She also was a captain of the first women’s varsity flag football team this year. As a junior, she was inducted into the National Honor Society and was awarded the Cross Training Athletics Character Award; as a senior, she earned the Andrea Morton Character Award. Outside of school, Erma participates in the 4-H Dairy Project, is the Chautauqua County Dairy Ambassador, and a part of the Cornell Junior Dairy Leaders Program. Erma is attending Cornell University in the fall, majoring in Animal Science and Agriculture Science with a focus in education.
Eliot Reyda, son of Joseph and Tara Reyda of Mayville, is a junior who said he enjoyed his Physics, Holocaust, and Band classes the most this year. Eliot has competed on the basketball and baseball teams since seventh grade, and this year he also competed on the football team. Eliot is also a member of National Honor Society and High School Bowl. He has been on the high honor roll throughout high school. In his spare time, Eliot enjoys reading, swimming, and watching movies and television shows. Future plans include attending college.
Sophomore Jada Cole is the daughter of Nikole and Chad Cole of Mayville. She enjoyed English class the most this year. Jada is an outstanding athlete, who competes on the school’s soccer, basketball, and track teams. She went to States for track this year to compete in the high jump, finishing 9th in High Jump Division 2 and clearing 5’0″. After high school, Jada is hoping to attend college to play soccer.
Lillian Schenk, a freshman, is the daughter Lauren and Jeremy Schenk of Ashville. Her favorite classes this year were Global Studies and Geometry. Lilly has competed on the basketball team in seventh grade; in eighth and ninth grades, she competed on the swimming and the track teams. She performs in the band and has performed in every musical since her seventh grade year. Outside of school, Lilly enjoys playing her viola and riding horses. Future plans include attending college and earning a math degree, perhaps becoming a teacher.
Eighth grader Riley Lindstrom is the daughter of Ashley and William Means of Mayville. She enjoyed English and math courses the most this year. Riley competed on the modified volleyball team in seventh grade and the JV team this year. She also competes on the Cheetah Volleyball travel team. In seventh grade, Riley won first place in the local VFW writing contest. Outside of school, Riley enjoys playing volleyball and doing arts and crafts. Riley’s future plans include attending college to become an architect and run her own architecture business.
Eliana, a seventh grader, is the daughter of Michael and Nora Ludwig of Mayville. She enjoyed her science and art classes the most this year. She competed on the soccer, basketball, and track teams and also enjoyed performing in the musical. She earned high honor roll throughout the year. Outside of school, Eliana loves to play soccer with friends and play board games. Her future plans include earning “really good grades for the rest of high school,” getting a scholarship for college, and becoming a doctor.
