Mother and daughter Sharon Walker and Jodie Johnson have been inducted into the Benjamin Prescott Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Regent Bonnie Larkin and Chaplain Elizabeth Sedlmayer officiated over the ceremony at the luncheon meeting at Denny's Restaurant in Fredonia. Their lineage to a Revolutionary War Ancestor was proven and they received their yellow roses of friendship as full-fledged members.

Officer reports were given and everyone was reminded that the Spring District 8 Meeting will be held on April 29 at the Chautauqua Institution Athenaeum hosted by the Jamestown Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Brenda Johnson proposed a cruise this summer on the Victorian Princess out of Erie cruising around Presque Isle. She gave some costs for different options and more information will be available at the next meeting.

Barbara Pietro has been investigating a location and caterer for the Fall District 8 Meeting in October hosted by the Prescott chapter.

The next Benjamin Prescott Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution meeting will be at 5 p.m. May 4 at Meeder's Restaurant in Ripley. Members are asked to contact Bonnie Larkin.

After adjournment the group gave birthday cards and cupcakes to celebrate the birthdays of members Julina Harris, age 90, and Kari Wendel.

After the festivities, most members went to the Barker Museum in Fredonia for a presentation by Max Walters on Mark Twain's life and Fredonia connections.

Those who are over 18 years of age and had an ancestor who fought or gave aid to the brave soldiers that fought and won the American Revolutionary War and would like to join can call Barbara Pietro at 716-392-1166 or email jbpietro@gmail.com
