Man Charged After Fleeing From Jamestown Police
A Jamestown man faces several charges after allegedly fleeing from police during a burglary investigation.
Larry J. Whitehill Jr., 43, of Jamestown, was charged with two counts of third-degree burglary, third-degree grand larceny, petit larceny, obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest on May 17.
Officers were investigating a burglary from a business on the west side of the city where copper had been stolen. During the investigation officers received a description of the suspect’s vehicle and, according to a police report, had knowledge of the vehicle from previous burglaries in Jamestown. Officials found the vehicle, parked, and found Whitehill as well.
According to the police report, officers decided a “show-up” needed to be conducted when Whitehill tried to run into a house on foot and an altercation ensued. Whitehill was taken into custody and transported to the City Jail.
Officers were also investigating a May 13 burglary at a separate west side business where nearly $5,700 in tools were stolen. Officers were able to obtain video footage from both incidents, additionally charging Whitehill.
Whitehill was arraigned and transferred to the Chautauqua County Jail.
