Emily Cama and Rita Freeborough were inducted into membership in the Rotary Club of Jamestown recently.

Freeborough, sponsored by Diana Meckley, is rejoining the club. She was born and raised in Pittsburgh. She met her future husband Boyd in 1982 who was in ROTC Navy while attending Penn State, as did Rita. Boyd Freeborough served in the Navy for 22 years, and the Freeboroughs lived all over the country. Rita Freeborough pursued her master of education while they lived in Jacksonville, Fla. She majored in guidance counseling with a specialty in career counseling. She has offered career counseling in a variety of settings with individuals of diverse backgrounds. She was president of the National Employment Counseling Association, conducting presentations and workshops all over the country. She is retired now and continues to enjoy traveling having lost her husband two years ago. She is ready to give back to people and the community who have given her tremendous support.

Jim Smith has sponsored Emily Cama, who welcomed the club’s exchange student from Denmark into her home for his first three months in the United States. Cama is a native of Chautauqua County and a graduate of Sherman High School and Grove City College. She went on to teach fifth grade in Denver, Colo., but eventually moved home to Chautauqua County with her husband, who is a teacher at Lincoln Elementary School. Emily was a domestic CEO until 2019 when she earned her real estate license and became a full-time employee of ERA, in addition to teaching a fitness class at the YMCA. The Camas are the parents of four children.

Rotary welcomes anyone who is interested in joining the organization. For more information, email Irene Dobies, membership chairwoman, at iadobies@stny.rr.com.
