Falconer Business Partially Reopens After Fire

FALCONER — A village business has partially reopened following a fire that broke out at the end of March.

Maple Tree Cafe and Ice Cream, 1993 E. Main St., had to close three months after first opening in January. At the time, the focus was on cleaning up the property.

“We are working hard to rebuild, make some changes and get reopened as soon as possible,” the business told The Post-Journal.

The fire on March 21 was caused by washed and dried washcloths spontaneously igniting.

Maple Tree officially reopened Saturday for ice cream and a limited food menu. They offer breakfast and lunch options, dine-in or take-out, call-in or online orders when fully operational. The business is open from 3-9 p.m.

“We offer 26 flavors of hard ice cream, and exciting flavors of soft serve ice cream — regular, waffle and sugar cones — milkshakes and sundaes with everyone’s favorite toppings,” Maple Tree said. “We have partnered with Ashby’s brand of ice cream out of Michigan, (which is) family owned, has unique flavors, and a little different and new taste for the area that we believe customers will notice and appreciate. There will be a limited food menu until the dining room is open.”

Drive-through orders and the pickup window will be available for ice cream.

“We are from and live in the community,” the business said. “We appreciate all the support and assistance from the community.”
