Florida Man Charged In Thruway Shooting Incident

A Florida man has been charged in a Tuesday shooting on Interstate 90 that led to the injured driver stopping at the Dunkirk-Fredonia exit.

On Wednesday, the Bureau of Criminal Investigation charged Ervin B. Stubbs, 34 of Ocala, Fla, with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and being a fugitive from justice out of Pennsylvania State Police.

At around 9 p.m., Troopers out of Dunkirk responded to a victim being shot while operating a vehicle on the Interstate 90. The victim, a 42-year-old of Detroit, was met by EMS and Troopers at the exit. The victim was transported and treated at Erie County Medical Center for a non-life threatening, single gunshot wound to his knee.

An investigation determined Stubbs was operating a truck and shot the victim. The Bureau of Criminal Investigation are working with PA State Police and determined that the shooting occurred on the Interstate 90 in Pennsylvania.

Stubbs was located after the incident occurred at Flying J Truck Stop in Pembroke. Stubbs was in possession of a Ruger 9mm handgun.

He was arrested and processed at Batavia. He will be arraigned and transported to Pennsylvania State Police for additional charges on a warrant extradition.
