Langworthy Pledges To Oppose Lake Erie Wind Project

Nick Langworthy, Republican and Conservative nominee for Congress, has pledged to work against a proposed off-shore wind turbine project on Lake Erie.

“Putting massive wind turbines on the shores of our beautiful Lake Erie is absolutely, unequivocally a bad idea,” Langworthy said. “There are numerous economic, environmental, and national security reasons why putting industrial turbines on our shoreline would be a disaster. As your Congressman, I am proud to join with my fellow citizens in opposition to this project and will do everything in my power to help stop it.”

Langworthy pledged to reintroduce legislation carried by former Congressman Chris Jacobs that would deny the ability for developers to receive federal tax credits to build offshore wind farms in the Great Lakes. Given the massive capital needed to construct these projects, if developers don’t have tax credits, it would likely prove far too costly for them to move forward. Langworthy said he will make it one of his first official acts after being sworn in.

“We must make America energy independent, and we must protect our beautiful Lake Erie. Our energy independence and our national security are inextricably linked,” Langworthy said. “I vow that I will use my voice and my power in Congress to help lead this fight.”
