Recovery Outreach is celebrating three years of recovery services in the Jamestown community.
The faith-based recovery support program is for anyone in active addiction, recovery from addiction, or a loved one of someone in addiction or recovery to help them better understand where their loved one is located.
Meetings are based on the Celebrate Recovery eight-principle, 12-step program. A topic is discussed, such as self-help, relapse prevention, mindfulness and boundaries. The group also works with individuals separately who are looking for help with detox or getting to a recovery facility.
About four years ago, while in a discussion about the lack of faith-based recovery groups in the area, Cindy Penhollow, Diane Start and Sherry Tveter felt called upon to help anyone suffering from addiction. Through training and experience their journey began.
Recovery Outreach is fully funded by donations. Funds are used for recovery Bibles, daily journals, supplies and providing personal care products for individuals entering rehab.
Anyone wishing to make a donation, can send a check earmarked to Recovery Outreach to Jamestown Community Chapel, 35 Camp St., Jamestown, NY 14701.
If there is anyone with a need for recovery, reach out and ask for help anytime. Pastor Doug Penhollow can be reached at 716-450-7113; Cindy Penhollow at 716-450-9845; or Diane Start at 716-485-1143.
Meetings are every Thursday at 6 p.m. at Jamestown Community Chapel. Coffee and snacks are provided.
