El Greco Co-Owner Addresses Rotary

Alexis Singleton, co-owner and vice president of El Greco Woodworking Inc. recently addressed the Rotary Club of Jamestown.

Singleton oversees product safety and compliance, designs internal data systems, and performs the role of strategist for her family-owned business.

She shared with the club the highlights of El Greco’s 47 years of operation, starting with her dad reading about furniture building at the Prendergast Library, through a devastating fire, and into the transition to the next generation.

El Greco, known for its excellent baby cribs and infant and children’s bedroom furniture products are sold through ROOM AND BOARD and not one product has ever been recalled. The company is consistently rated A+ by Baby Bargains, who also named them for the Best Crib Made in the USA.

Prior to joining El Greco, Singleton worked at the Media Programme of the European Union and the Greek Ministry of Defense before a role for symposia of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of the Eastern Orthodox Church. A few years as a NASDAQ trader on Wall Street and a stint as a morning radio personality led her to manage the family business.

Singleton has served as a director at Ralph C Sheldon Foundation Inc. since 2003. She helps to advance economic development at the local and state levels having volunteered as Workforce Investment Board chair and state Downtown Revitalization Initiative member.

Singleton earned a bachelor’s degree from Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University.

She and her husband, Todd, are raising three children in Jamestown.
