Several hundred Viking children and adults attended the annual family picnic this year at the Viking Lake Park in Maple Springs after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic. Games and prizes for people of all ages included face painting by Carolyn Becker, fish pond, age group money scrambles, water balloon toss, and all types of age group running races. The Viking “Pocket Lady” (Linda Smith) roamed about the picnic delighting the youngsters. Over 50 young Vikings, 4 and under, participated in the “Teddy Bear” race with all participants getting stuffed animals. The highlight of the afternoon was a concert given by the “96 Highlanders Pipes and Drums.”
