RUSSELL, Pa. — Stars Go Dim is making a trip from the bright lights of Nashville to the dark skies of Warren County.
The concert featuring popular Christian group will start at 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14 at the HUB at Praise Fellowship in Russell.
“We’re in the middle of our summer series of shows,” Lead Singer Chris Cleveland said. “We’re going out and supporting a brand-new album – Grace in the Wilderness – sharing some of the new songs off of that.”
They will also perform some of their more familiar favorites – “a lot of the songs that they’ve heard on the radio” and “some of the worship songs that I write for other big artists,” Cleveland said.
He’s expecting some crowd participation during the event. “One of my favorite things to do is sing with people,” he said.
Many performing groups are still not on tour yet, so a chance to bring Stars Go Dim to Warren County was too good to pass up.
“They’re very popular in the Christian music world,” Outreach Coordinator Steve Younger said. “Not everybody is starting to go out and about. This was an opportunity to get a popular band in.”
“It’s for the community,” Younger said. “It’s a great message. It’s pretty affordable.”
Cleveland and Stars Go Dim look at chances to play in smaller towns and rural places as opportunities.
“A lot of the places that we play are like that,” Cleveland said. “These are the best places to come. People are so primed and ready to get together and have a good time.”
“When we can come to some of the places that are off the beaten path, I feel that people enjoy it and respond to it a little bit more than in the big cities,” he said. “I really enjoy it.”
The Collective, made up of local musicians, will open the concert.
General admission tickets are $20, $5 for children under 7, and the group rate is $15.
Younger credited sponsors Gaughn’s Drug Store, Armor Construction, J Willys Que and Cream, and Tim Holter Financial Services for providing support.
Advance tickets are available through the church. Anyone with questions may contact Younger at (814) 706-1343.
“This is a nice concert for Warren,” Younger said. “Hopefully people will take advantage of it.”
“It’s going to be a great night,” Cleveland said.
