Youth Ballet To Host Summer Classes

The Chautauqua Regional Youth Ballet is holding summer weekly ballet and modern classes open now and an intermediate/advanced workshop the week of Aug. 15.
Weekly classes running now include Beginning Ballet, Ballet 1, Ballet 2, Ballet 3, Int/Adv Ballet, Pointe, Beginning Modern and Int/Adv. Modern. Faculty includes Monika Alch, Sandra Mangusing, Samantha Barczak-Young, Megan Stefanik and Rudi Andalora. Classes run throughout the week through Aug. 12. Intermediate/Advanced classes meet four times a week at 5 p.m. and may be taken as a walk-in class. The class is taught by Samantha Barczak-Young, former dancer with the Pennsylvania Ballet and now CRYB faculty member.
A week-long Intermediate-Advanced Intensive Workshop will be held from Aug. 15-20. Daily classes include Ballet Technique and Pointe taught by Brittany Bush. Bush is a CRYB alumna and former company member of Jose Mateo Ballet Theatre in Boston. She now serves as ballet director of the Greater Boston School of Classical Ballet.
Men’s Class taught will be taught by Michael Patterson, artistic director of the Patterson School of Ballet in Erie. Patterson has become a sought-after master teacher following his career with the Pennsylvania Ballet. Modern Class taught by Sukanya Burman. An alumna of the Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance she will instruct a daily Graham technique class. Burman was recently selected as one of 13 choreographers in New York state for the 2022 NYS Choreographer’s Initiative Project, sponsored by NYSCA and the NYS Danceforce.
