GERRY — Ed Yager, vice president of the Rodeo City Senior Citizens, taught basket making to the group at the last gathering.

Yager said he had been injured, and this was something that he could do without much movement. Yager said he was able to acquire books on basket making and has been doing basket making as a hobby for a long time now.

Yager has taught basket making at youth groups and at the county fair. He developed a simple basket technique for beginners and that was used by this group.

Yager had various colors of basket materials for all to select from for their basket.

Prior to the program, all those present enjoyed a meal. Various dishes of food were brought in by the members.

The blessing before the meal was given by Cassadaga American Legion Chaplain Diane K. Shaw. Cecil and Jan Miller were in charge of set up and arranging of the food. Ann Hellman is the president, and Peg Harrison is the secretary. Gayle McKinney is the treasurer.

The group meets at the United Methodist Church in Gerry on the second Friday at noon.
