Float Participants Sought For Safety Village Christmas Event

ASHVILLE — On Tuesday, Dec. 14, from 5 to 7:30 p.m., the Chautauqua Safety Village will be transformed into the Town of Whoville from the classic Christmas story, The Grinch.

Organizers invite you personally and/or your business to decorate a float (anything can be used, 5′-25′ long, even a table!) and bring it to the Safety Village for guests to walk around at the Whoville event. The floats will remain stationary in the Village, so they will not need to be pulled or driven around. The floats can be constructed of anything you find to use, but all floats should be decorated for the holidays with one theme in common: There must be a part of the Grinch sticking out that is visible from 20′ away. (It can be a foot, a hand, a Grinch face-use your creativity here!)

This is a great way to showcase your organization and/or your support for the community. Whoville visitors will stroll the fully decorated streets, take their own pictures with Santa, dare to meet the Grinch and peek in his lair, decorate cookies with Mrs. Claus, and play tons of holiday games. Organizers will have refreshments for sale, guests can scope out the North Pole Observation Station, and, most importantly, walk through the stationary float parade where your own float will be waiting!

Those who would like to build a float should let organizers know by Dec. 7. For more information or to register, email lisa@chautauquasafetyvillage.com. The Chautauqua Safety Village is located at 2695 Route 394, Ashville. Their website is www.chautauquasafetyvillage.com.
