Halloween Read And Treat Locations To Be Held In Warren, Jamestown

Halloween Read and Treat has locations in Jamestown, N.Y., and the Warren, Pa., area this Halloween. Some local children are pictured enjoying Halloween Read and Treat.

Several Halloween Read and Treat locations will be held in the Warren and Jamestown areas.

“It’s alarming how many children don’t have any books of their own,” said Ruby Wiles of Warren. “Halloween Read and Treat is a way to help remedy that!”

Wiles is the founder/director of Allegheny Creations, a social enterprise, and of Free Books for Kids Town, a Warren, Pa., non-profit formed to help children achieve success and go for their dreams. This year she is celebrating nine years of Halloween Read and Treat, letting kids choose a book when they get their treat and encouraging others to do the same.

These are locations and times where kids can get a free book for Halloween Read and Treat:

¯ 3 Redwood Street, Warren, Pa.: Saturday, October 30, 2021, 5-7 p.m.

¯ St John’s Lutheran Church, 200 Pleasant Drive, Pleasant Township, Warren: Saturday. October 30, 5-7 p.m.

¯ Sugar Grove Free Library, 22 Harmon Street @ School Street, Sugar Grove, Pa.: Sunday, October 31, 6-8 p.m.

¯ 3 Barker Street, Jamestown, N.Y.: Sunday, October 31, 6-8 p.m.

¯ Warren Public Library, 205 Market Street, will also be having books and treats on Saturday, October 30, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

“A book is a gift that keeps on giving, because no amount of candy in the world can match against the amount of knowledge and inspiration a child can obtain from a single book,” Wiles said.
