Erie Pair Charged Following Traffic Stop

Two Erie, Pa., residents are facing a host of charges following a traffic stop related to a stolen car report.

The New York State Police this week announced the arrests of 29-year-old Christian Simpson and 37-year-old Jessica Vega. The pair was stopped Sunday on Interstate 86 in Sherman in a vehicle reported stolen.

The vehicle was being driven by Vega with Simpson as a passenger. During a search, troopers recovered the following: a container of methamphetamine, two glass pipes containing methamphetamine residue, two bags containing ecstasy, two bags containing Hydrocodone pills, two orange Xanax pills, a trail knuckle knife, a spring loaded knife, brass knuckles, and several items used for the packaging and sale of narcotics.

The two were processed and transported to Chautauqua County Jail.

Both are facing charges of seventh- and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. Vega is facing additional charges of fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Simpson is facing an additional charge of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
