Harmony Senior Citizens Meet

Harmony Senior Citizens met Sept. 2 at the Panama United Methodist Church with 50 members and guests present. Roberta Karlson, President welcomed everyone. Lois King, Chaplain, read “A Prayer for America,” led the salute to the flag and offered the dinner prayer.

Luncheon included hot dogs with toppings, salads, chips, watermelon and apple pie. Bill Sweeney and Chuck Ellis cooked the hot dogs and the other food committee members included Tracy Mingle, Mary Keeney, and Peachie James.

The theme for September’s meeting was “It’s an American … baseball, hot dogs and apple pie.” So our all American town of Harmony Senior Citizen Line-up for 2021-2022 is First Batter-President Roberta Karlson, Second Batter up-Vice President Laurie Russell, Third Batter up-Wendie Raynor, and Fourth Batter up-Secretary Mary Lou Garfield. To complete our all American line-up is our Tour Director-Dottie Enlow, Chaplain-Lois King, and Cheer Person-Cindy Miller. The officers were installed for the coming year by Sally Hagg.

Jeff Enlow, area artist, was present with his creations of paintings on saw blades. He gave a history of the background into his paintings and brought several items he had completed.

Wendie Raynor read the Secretary’s report which was approved as read. Wendie also read a thank you note from Eloise Smith for the lovely gift she was presented by Roberta Karlson on behalf of the members. Mary Lou Garfield read the Treasurer’s report.

Laurie Russell, Vice President, recognized the following member celebrating birthdays during the month of September: Robert Delahoy, Cindy Miller, Debra Baum, Pauline Edsall and Carol Parnel. Each received a small gift. Two members who were not present were Carol Hetrick and Jane Donelson. Both will be mailed a birthday card.

Cindy Miller was given names of members to receive get well cards or thinking of you cards which included Lyle Walker, Steve Raynor, and Dee Ellis.

Dottie Enlow reminded members payment for the Oct. 1 trip to the Comedy Center and Sakura Buffet is due at this meeting. The trip to the Salamanca Allegany Casino is scheduled for Nov. 16 and payment is due at the October meeting.

Sally Hagg, Ellen Coffaro and Mary Keeney volunteered to audit the books and and report their findings at the October meeting.

Ellen Coffaro stated the United Senior Council will resume meetings effective Sept. 9 at 10 a.m.

The next meeting is scheduled for Oct. 7 at noon for a tureen dinner. Members are asked to bring a “gooolish” dish to pass,their own table service, drink and wear something orange and black for “trick or treat” bingo. Table hosts will be Ruth Brown, Tom Smith, Carl and Susie Davis, Ken and Gloria Warren, and Judy Prechtl. All area seniors are invited to attend.
