Elks Lodge Sponsors Recent School Visit By Motivational Speaker

Jamestown High School 10th graders had the opportunity to hear Ray Lozano, a drug and substance prevention specialist and youth speaker, during a virtual presentation. Lozano used humor to engage students in conversations about drug and alcohol prevention.

“Ray is part of the Drug Awareness Program within the National Elks,” said Teresa Fish, Jamestown Elks member. “The Jamestown Elks Lodge No. 263 works locally and nationally to help promote drug awareness and we were very happy to provide this opportunity to Jamestown High School students.”

Lozano’s mission is “to make a difference in the lives of young people and teach them to do the same in others.” He began his journey in 1986 and has educated and entertained thousands of students in hundreds of middle and high schools from Alaska to Florida and the Cayman Islands to Bermuda. Having performed stand-up comedy in Hollywood and Ontario, CA, Mr. Lozano conveys drug and alcohol prevention in a fun and humorous way. He has worked in the Teen Challenge Ministry Institute, as a vice Principal at a private elementary school where he launched an after school program promoting a family oriented, drug free philosophy; as a Program Specialist for a youth prevention program, and at an internationally known Level A teaching hospital. He currently holds a certification as a Prevention Specialist from California as a drug and alcohol counselor.

“We can’t thank the Jamestown Elks Lodge No. 263 enough for providing this opportunity for our students,” said JHS Principal Dana Williams. “Mr. Lozano provided very valuable and important information for our students in a humorous and engaging way that the kids really responded to. We are lucky to have such amazing community partners that care so much about our schools.”
