Spring Watershed Cleanup Slated For Month Of May

The Chautauqua-Conewango Consortium and the Conewango Creek Watershed Association invite you to participate in our Spring Watershed Cleanup.

While we will not be gathering for a community cleanup as we usually do, we can still have fun contributing to the watershed-wide effort.

You, your family, and your friends can take part by cleaning up trash whenever and wherever you like throughout the month of May.

After all, litter on the land usually finds its way into the water if someone doesn’t pick it up!

If you’d like to participate in the cleanup, please register ahead of time at www.conewangocreek.org so we know who’s getting involved, when, and where.

Registered participants will be sent a brief online survey to report the results of their cleanup efforts.

We will also announce challenges and prize giveaways and provide additional information on how you can collect and submit data and photographs from your cleanup efforts.

Please visit www.conewangocreek.org or call 814-726-1441 for more information.

The Conewango Creek Watershed Association is a unique partnership between two states, three counties, numerous municipalities, and several county, state and federal agencies.

The collaboration of the entities, and the citizens within the watershed, has resulted in an organization focused on conserving the heritage and natural resources so important to our communities.

The Chautauqua-Conewango Consortium is a Waterkeeper Alliance Affiliate whose purpose is to protect the waters, both surface and underground, of the region. That protection is based on everyone’s right to clean water for drinking, fishing, and swimming.

The Consortium communicates and publicize scientific information about clean water, support the scientific research done by local individuals and institutions that know the region and, provides a forum to allow community members to engage in citizen science and report concerns about the region’s water for proper action.

In short, the Chautauqua-Conewango Consortium acts as the voice for clean water within our watershed for the common good of the people and the environment of our region.
