Reg Lenna Film Showings Include Academy Awards Nominees

Two films nominated for Best Picture at this year’s Academy Awards will show at Reg Lenna Center for The Arts.

Minari screens Wednesday, April 21, at 7 p.m. Promising Young Woman screens Friday, April 23, at 7 p.m. Each is nominated for six Academy Awards, including Best Picture.

A tender and sweeping story, Minari follows a Korean-American family that moves to an Arkansas farm in search of their own American dream. The family home changes completely with the arrival of their sly, foul-mouthed, but incredibly loving grandmother. Amidst the instability and challenges of this new life in the rugged Ozarks, Minari shows the undeniable resilience of family and what really makes a home. Minari is rated PG-13 and is 116 minutes long. In addition to Best Picture it is nominated for Best Director – Lee Isaac, Best Actor – Steven Yeun, Best Supporting Actress – Youn Yuh-jung, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Best Original Score

Best Director nominee Emerald Fennell (Killing Eve) helms Promising Young Woman. Everyone said Cassie was a promising young woman until a mysterious event abruptly derailed her future. But nothing in Cassie’s life is what it appears to be: she’s wickedly smart, tantalizingly cunning, and she’s living a secret double life by night. Now, an unexpected encounter is about to give Cassie a chance to right the wrongs of the past in this thrilling and wildly entertaining story. Promising Young Woman is rated R and is 114 minutes long. In addition to Best Picture and Best Director, it is nominated for Best Actress – Carey Mulligan, Best Original Screenplay and Best Editing.
