NCCR Names Dogs Of The Week

The Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue Dogs of the Week are Oreo and Brownie, both of whom arrived recently. It’s thought that Oreo (age about 5) is the mother to Brownie (age about 2). Both are spayed female chihuahua mixes who seem to like most people once they get past their initial fear of strangers. They’re especially vocal when they’re afraid, but they do like to snuggle once they know a person. Chihuahua’s are known for their tough personalities — behind a fence Oreo and Brownie may seem fierce, but they’re really love bugs looking for someone with a big heart and patience to housetrain them. Shelter officials hope to find them a home together but will adopt them separately. The shelter is located at 7540 N.Gale St., Westfield, and is open by appointment only. Applications can be found online at www.caninerescue.org on each dog’s page or can be mailed by sending an email to adoptions@caninerescue.org. Applications don’t commit a person to adopt, but give the volunteers a chance to check out references before making appointments.
